About Me
Painting for paintings sake

My Story
For over 25 years I have worked as a freelance designer, which has been both a privilege and a wonderful way to make a living. During that time I have had the opportunity to collaborate with many companies and institutions close to my heart, including The National Trust & RSPB, designing for greetings and stationery products, homeware and fabrics. This work has allowed me to quietly develop and refine my painting skills for more than two decades.
Yet for a long time I have felt a pull to create artwork purely on my own terms, not to follow a brief or respond to what a client needs, but to simply create from the heart.
Recently I allowed myself a short period of time to explore this, and in just over a month I created a body of work that feels incredibly exciting and inspiring to me.
At the beginning of the process I found it surprisingly difficult to let go of the rules and considerations that come with commercial design and realised how used I was to thinking about the end goal, who the audience might be, wether someone would buy it, and how it would be received, so what I really wanted was to set all of that aside and create from the heart without thinking about the outcome. I would love for you to follow me on this personal journey back to painting for paintings sake.
